(Diporiphora australis)

Background:

I first purchased my Tommy Round Head Dragons around spring last year. The breeder told me that there was a slight chance that the female would breed due to only being a few months old. I was extremely surprised when she fell gravid however she remained gravid for just over 90 days to drop a clutch of 8. (90 days is extremely long for a dragon to hold a clutch However after speaking to other keepers it seems quite common for this species to "hold" their eggs for so long. I was extremely happy until around 50 days later the eggs turned bad. I later cut the eggs open to find the dragons were dead. This was most likely due to the high temps i gave the eggs due to experimenting with TDSD (Temperature Dependent Sexual Determination)  for faster hatching eggs and more females being produced.
About 10 days after this I found my Female to be very lethargic. I realized something was wrong and she was bathed everyday and being kept in constant warm conditions. I thought she was constipated. Four days later she was found dead. I cut her open to find 6 eggs. I believe that the death of the female was due to the fact that she had two clutches of eggs when she shouldn't have had one and this caused to much pressure on her small organs

Pics of these events are found at the bottom of the page. I now have 2 gravid females will keep you all informed to see how they go.

Current:

Prodject on hold.

Up to 5 years.

Size:

6cm SVL with a very long tail.

Housing:

I house my adults in a 3 foot long x 2 foot high x 1.5 foot deep tank. Hatchlings are housed in 47 litre tubs. These guys are the smallest hatchlings I have seen. Mountain dragons are only smaller because of a shorter tail.

These guys are insectivorous. I feed mine on woodies, beetles, grasshoppers, moths and mealworms.

Below you can see some of my breeding Animals.
