(Rankinia Diemensis)

Background:

These were my first dragons to keep. They are sometimes confused with Jacky dragons when small to an inexperienced eye.  I have been working on these guys for a few years now. I currently maintain 3 different bloodlines which are doing great. Over the generations I have been selecting the most vibrant and different coloured/patterned dragons to produce some very desirable dragons. These dragons have an extremely high metabolism and grow extremely fast in most cases thus they must be fed a lot!

Age:

These dragons have a bad name for lifespan and although IMO they will best for the first 3 years then will stop breeding and live to about 6 years old.

Size:

These dragons are fairly small only growing to 8cm Snout Vent Length. With a small tail. Most dragons are under 20cm total length.

Housing:

Adult dragons can be maintained in a standed three foot tank (Ratio of 2 male to 3 female). These dragons are fairly terrestrial and don't climb very far off the ground in the tank. They also prefer it slightly cooler then other dragons and dont like it above low to mid 30's. Hatchlings are tiny (smallest hatchlings I have seen) and are housed in 47 litre tubs until larger.

Diet:

These dragons are strictly insectivours and should not be fed vegetables. I feed mine woodies, beetles (small ones), grasshoppers, moths and mealworms.
