(Amphibolurus muricatus)
Background:
I am currently working on two forms of Jacky Dragon. Striped and animals with more yellow on them. These dragons do like to climb and a very social. Breeding males sometimes have a small crest that goes down their back.
Age:
In my experience these dragons seem to have a lifespan of 8 years. But can live longer. They seem to breed to the day they die but fertility in females seems to drop a fair bit after the age of 6.
Size:
These dragons are relatively small with a Snout-Vent Length of 10cm. However they have massive tails which can be up to 20cm. This makes them a total length of 30cm.
Housing:
I house a breeding colony in 60cmx60cmx90cm high tank. However pairs and trios can do well in smaller tanks. Hatchlings are tiny and are housed in 47 litre tubs until larger.
Diet:
These guys are largely insectivorous and eat very little vegetable matter. I feed mine on woodies, beetles, grasshoppers, moths and mealworms.
